About Gratia Rose (Gulab) Handmade Glycerin Soap
Kannauj is famous for many attars, but above all for Gulab — Rose. The city's Rose attar tradition is centuries old and carries a Geographical Indication that no other city or method can replicate.
This bar carries that tradition into your daily bath. Lather once and the room fills with Gulab — not a sharp synthetic rose but the soft, complex, romantic character of genuine Indian Rose attar — holding for one to two hours and settling on your skin as you dry.
The Legacy Behind Every Bar
Gratia was the dream of Late Shri Akhilesh Kumar Mishra Ji, one of India's most respected fragrance figures, who built Govindam Flavours over 85 years into an internationally recognised attar house. His laboratory and decades of research live in every bar.
What Makes Gratia Different
Every soap buyer knows the disappointment of a scent that fades by the end. Gratia's Gulab fragrance is consistent from the first lather to the last milligram, and the foam delivers the same quality throughout the bar's life.
For Every Skin Type
Dry skin sees no post-wash tightness or stripping; the glycerin, Olive Oil and Almond Oil leave it genuinely soft. Oily skin finds it rinses completely off with no residue — the only thing that remains is the Rose attar, settling on skin as attar should.
The Kannauj Difference
Kannauj Perfume holds a Geographical Indication. In the Deg-Bhapka process, botanicals sit in a sealed copper Deg, are slow-heated, and the vapour is drawn through a Chonga pipe into a cooling Bhapka receiver containing natural oil — producing Rose attar of extraordinary roundness, softness and depth.
Research on the Constituents
◆ Glycerol is a long-established humectant in topical preparations, with published review evidence describing its role in stratum-corneum hydration, barrier function and skin mechanical properties — the property behind a glycerin bathing bar (Fluhr et al., 2008 — British Journal of Dermatology; PMID 18510666).

How to Use
Wet skin with water and work the bar into a lather between your palms. Apply to face and body, massage gently, then rinse thoroughly. The fragrance settles on skin after rinsing, so no separate body spray is needed. Suitable for daily use on face and body.
Who Can Use It
Suitable for all skin types — dry, oily, combination and sensitive — for daily face and body use. For external use only. If you are pregnant, lactating or have a known skin condition or fragrance allergy, patch-test first or consult a physician before regular use.
Safety Information
For external use only. Avoid direct contact with the eyes — rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs. Discontinue use if irritation or redness develops. Keep out of reach of children. Store on a well-draining soap dish between uses.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight on a well-draining soap dish. Glycerin bars are naturally softer than commercial bars and will dissolve if left in standing water — the softness is a sign of genuine glycerin content, not a defect. Allow the bar to dry fully between uses to extend its life.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Gratia Rose (Gulab) Glycerin Soap?
A 125 g handmade vegetarian bathing bar by Govindam Flavours, crafted with genuine Rose (Rosa damascena) attar via the traditional Kannauj Deg-Bhapka method and enriched with Olive Oil, Almond Oil and glycerin.
Is this a genuine Rose fragrance or a synthetic rose compound?
It is a genuine Rose attar made by the traditional Deg-Bhapka method, not a synthetic compound. Kannauj's Rose attar tradition is centuries old and holds a Geographical Indication; the difference in depth, softness and longevity is immediately noticeable.
Why does the bathroom smell of roses for 1–2 hours after bathing?
Natural Rose attar has a molecular depth synthetic compounds lack; the heavier aromatic molecules hold in the air far longer, creating the room-filling fragrance Gratia is known for.
Does the Rose fragrance last through the entire bar?
Yes. The bar keeps consistent Rose fragrance intensity from the first lather to the last milligram, with rich, consistent foam throughout its life.
Is this suitable for oily skin?
Yes. It rinses completely clean without heavy foam residue, leaving skin balanced rather than coated or stripped.
What are the alternate names for this product?
Also known as Gulab soap, Rose soap, Damask Rose bathing bar and Rosa damascena soap. Sanskrit: Shatapatri. Botanical name: Rosa damascena.
Is this available at Riddhish Herbals?
Yes. Riddhish Herbals — Gujarat's trusted Ayurvedic store since 2015 — stocks genuine Gratia soaps with bill provided and pan-India delivery.
Is Gulab / Rose mentioned in Ayurveda?
Yes. Rosa damascena (Shatapatri) is referenced in classical Ayurvedic texts for its cooling and soothing properties in topical applications. Consult your Ayurvedic physician for specific guidance.
Has Rose essential oil been studied scientifically?
Rosa damascena has been researched for its aromatic compounds and traditional cosmetic applications. Results observed in study conditions; individual results may vary. Consult your physician before use if you have any skin condition.
