Fuller's Earth · 100% Pure · 100g

One clay. Two rituals. Nothing else.

Pure Multani Mitti from the earth of Multan — the mineral clay India has trusted for generations to lift away oil, refresh skin and clean the scalp. No fragrance, no colour, no preservatives. Just mix, mask and rinse.

Why a powder beats a tube

A pre-mixed paste has to carry water, thickeners and preservatives to survive on a shelf. A pure powder carries none of that. You decide the strength, you choose the base, and every mask is made fresh — the way clay has been used in Indian homes for centuries.

One clay, two rituals

The face ritual

Mix 1–2 teaspoons with rose water or plain water into a smooth paste. Spread an even layer, leave 10–15 minutes, and rinse with cool water before it fully cracks. Once or twice a week for oily, blemish-prone skin.

The scalp ritual

Mix 2–3 tablespoons with water or aloe vera gel. Work through scalp and hair, leave 15–20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. A gentle, sulphate-free cleanse that lifts greasiness and leaves hair feeling light. Up to once a week.

Mix your own — four ways

Glow — 1 tsp clay + rose water + a pinch of turmeric, for a fresh, glowing look.

Oil-control — 1 tsp clay + plain or rose water, a clean matte finish for oily days.

Even-tone — 1 tsp clay + rose water + a little besan, traditionally used after sun exposure for an even-looking tone.

Dry-skin friendly — 1 tsp clay + curd or aloe vera + a few drops of honey, comfort for drier skin.

Roots in tradition

In Indian skincare, clay is known as mrittika (earth), and its use belongs to Mrittika Chikitsa — mud therapy — a practice recognised within India's naturopathy system under the AYUSH framework. Generations across Gujarat and Rajasthan have mixed clay with water, rose water or curd, applied the paste and rinsed it away. Multani Mitti carries that ritual forward, working with the skin's balance rather than stripping it.

What the research says

Clays of the bentonite–montmorillonite family — which Fuller's Earth belongs to — have been studied for oil-absorbing and skin-comforting properties. In one study, 75 adults with oily or combination skin used a clay-based mask twice weekly over four weeks, with researchers recording changes in measured sebum and skin comfort under study conditions (Zhang X et al., 2023 — Skin Research and Technology; PMID 38009030). A 2024 review in Archives of Dermatological Research summarised similar properties of these clays (PMID 39438324). Results were observed under study conditions; individual results may vary.

Questions, answered

Is this Multani Mitti AYUSH or GMP certified?

It is a cosmetic clay powder, manufactured for Riddhish Herbals in a facility holding GMP, ISO 9001:2015 and HACCP certifications. We describe the facility as certified rather than claiming the product itself is AYUSH-certified.

Can I use it on both skin and hair?

Yes — as a face pack for oily, blemish-prone skin, and as a mild, sulphate-free scalp cleanser.

What exactly is Multani Mitti?

A natural mineral clay of the calcium-bentonite family, also called Fuller's Earth, known for absorbing excess oil and impurities. It takes its name from the Multan region.

What are its other names?

Also written Multani Matti and Multani Mati, and known in English as Fuller's Earth or calcium bentonite clay.

Will it dry out my skin?

On its own it can feel drying, which suits oily skin. For dry or sensitive skin, mix with aloe vera, curd or honey and limit use to once a week.

Is it good for acne-prone or oily skin?

It is traditionally valued for oily, blemish-prone skin because it absorbs excess surface oil. A cosmetic clay, not a treatment for any medical skin condition.

Can I mix it with other ingredients?

Yes — rose water, curd, honey, sandalwood or besan for the face; water or aloe vera gel for the scalp. See the four recipes above.

Does it help with tan or dull-looking skin?

Used regularly, its gentle exfoliation and oil absorption may support a brighter, more even-looking tone after sun and pollution exposure. A cosmetic clay, not a skin-lightening treatment.

How often should I use it?

Once or twice a week is enough for most people. Overuse can leave skin or scalp feeling dry.

Is it available with a proper bill?

Yes. Riddhish Herbals has served customers since 2015 with genuine products, a proper bill, doctor-guided selection and pan-India delivery.
