Sargassum Seaweed Powder from Riddhish Herbals is a raw, sun-dried and finely milled brown marine seaweed (Sargassum sp., including Sargassum wightii), used mainly as a natural, organic bio-stimulant and soil conditioner for gardens, nurseries and farms, and also in traditional external skin and hair preparations. An independent Singham Laboratory analysis of a dried sample found it naturally carries organic carbon, nitrogen, potassium, calcium and magnesium along with trace elements such as iron, zinc, copper and boron — the mineral profile that has long made seaweed a prized input for soil and plants.

About Sargassum Seaweed Powder
Sargassum is a genus of large brown seaweed that drifts and anchors along warm coastlines, including the Gujarat and wider Indian shoreline. Harvested, washed, sun-dried and milled, it becomes a soft green-brown powder that gardeners, nurseries and farmers value as a natural, marine-derived input for soil and plants.
This is a raw single-material product — whole Sargassum seaweed, dried and powdered, with nothing added and nothing extracted. What you get is the seaweed itself: its organic matter, its natural spread of minerals, and the soil-friendly compounds that brown seaweeds are known for.
- Raw & natural — dried whole brown seaweed, milled to a powder; no fillers, no synthetic additions.
- Naturally mineral-rich — independent lab analysis shows organic carbon, nitrogen, potassium, calcium, magnesium and trace elements.
- Multi-purpose — used as a soil conditioner and plant bio-stimulant, in compost, and externally in traditional seaweed skin and hair packs.
- Bulk friendly — available in large quantities for farms, nurseries, organic growers and formulators.
- Genuine & billed — supplied by Riddhish Herbals with a proper bill, since 2015.
A Marine Plant with a Long Human History
Coastal communities across the world have gathered seaweed for centuries — to enrich fields, feed soil and prepare skin and hair treatments. In Sanskrit, marine algae of this kind are referred to as Samudra Shaivala, literally the moss of the sea. Brown seaweeds like Sargassum sit within that long tradition of using what the ocean naturally offers.
Today the same plant is studied and used worldwide as a raw material for organic farming inputs, natural cosmetics and marine biomass research. Riddhish Herbals offers it in its simplest, most honest form: the dried seaweed itself, milled and ready to use.
Why Growers Choose Seaweed
Seaweed has a reputation among organic and natural growers for a reason. Beyond a single nutrient number, it brings organic carbon and a broad natural spread of major and trace minerals that ordinary chemical inputs do not carry together.
Used in the soil or in compost, Sargassum seaweed powder adds organic matter, feeds soil life, and supplies the trace elements plants draw on for steady, healthy growth. Many gardeners also steep it in water to make a simple natural liquid feed for drenching around roots.
Beyond the Garden — External & Traditional Uses
The same seaweed powder is used externally in traditional beauty routines. Blended with water or with other natural powders, it goes into face and hair packs, where seaweed has long been valued for its natural mineral and polysaccharide content. Always patch-test first and keep it for external use.
As a marine plant, Sargassum is also a natural source of iodine and minerals and has been the subject of food and nutraceutical research. Please note this particular material is supplied as a raw horticultural and cosmetic input; it is not labelled or sold as a food or supplement, so anyone considering traditional internal use should first speak with a qualified Ayurvedic physician.

How to Use
In soil: work roughly 50–100 g of powder into the soil around each plant, or about 200–500 g per square metre for beds, and water well. In compost: sprinkle a few handfuls into the compost heap to enrich it. As a liquid feed: steep about 20–40 g per litre of water for 24–48 hours, strain, and use the liquid to drench soil around roots. For pots: a teaspoon worked into the top soil every few weeks is enough. External use: mix a small amount with water or other powders into a face or hair pack, and patch-test first. Adjust to your crop, soil and skin — seaweed is forgiving, but moderation gives the best results.
Who Can Use It
Sargassum seaweed powder is made for home, terrace and kitchen gardeners, plant nurseries, landscapers, organic and natural farmers, compost makers, and horticulture growers who want a natural, marine-derived soil and plant input. It is also used externally in traditional seaweed-based skin and hair preparations. It is a raw agricultural and cosmetic material — not a food, medicine or animal feed — and is not intended for internal human consumption.
Safety Information
Sargassum seaweed powder is a natural raw material for garden, farm and external cosmetic use. Keep it away from food, store it out of reach of children and pets, and wash your hands after handling. As a marine product it naturally carries mineral salts and trace elements, so use sensible amounts on plants and always do a small patch test before any external skin use. It is not labelled as a food or supplement and is not meant to be eaten; anyone considering traditional internal use should first consult a qualified Ayurvedic physician. Outcomes on plants and skin vary with soil, crop, season and individual conditions.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed, moisture-proof container, away from direct sunlight and damp. Being a natural powder it can absorb moisture and clump in humid weather, so reseal it tightly after every use. Kept properly dry, it stays stable for a long time.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Sargassum seaweed powder?
It is dried, milled brown seaweed of the genus Sargassum (including Sargassum wightii) — a raw, single-material marine powder used mainly as a natural organic bio-stimulant and soil conditioner for plants, and also in traditional external skin and hair packs.
What are the other names for Sargassum seaweed?
It is called brown seaweed or gulfweed in English, Samudra Shaivala in Sanskrit, Samudri Shaival in Hindi, Dariyai Sheval in Gujarati, Samudri Sheval in Marathi, Kadal Paasi in Tamil and Kadal Paayal in Malayalam. Buyers also search for it as sea moss or samundari ghas.
How do I use Sargassum seaweed powder for my plants?
Work 50–100 g into the soil around each plant (or 200–500 g per square metre for beds) and water well, add a few handfuls to compost, or steep 20–40 g per litre of water for a day, strain, and use it as a natural liquid drench. For pots, a teaspoon in the top soil every few weeks works well.
Is this the same as liquid seaweed extract?
No. This is the whole dried seaweed milled to a raw powder, with nothing extracted or concentrated. Liquid seaweed extracts are processed concentrates; this is the natural material itself, which you can apply directly to soil or steep into your own liquid feed.
What nutrients does Sargassum seaweed powder naturally contain?
An independent Singham Laboratory analysis of a dried sample found organic carbon, nitrogen, potassium, calcium and magnesium, plus trace elements including iron, zinc, copper and boron. Being a natural marine material, the exact levels vary from batch to batch.
