The Dhatu Pachak series is a group of Ayurvedic tablets each named after one of the seven dhatus (body tissues) of classical Ayurveda — Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Meda, Asthi and Majja — because classical theory holds that every dhatu has its own digestive fire, dhatvagni, and pachaka means that which digests. At Riddhish Herbals the series runs Ras Pachak, Rakta Pachak, Mansh Pachak, Shauthlya (Med) Pachak and Asthi Majja Pachak, all made by Panchamrut Herbals under Mfg. Lic. No. GA-1762 at its manufacturing unit at Masma, Olpad, Surat, with its corporate office at Ahmedabad. Riddhish Herbals is the stockist. Which one is appropriate is a question for a qualified Ayurvedic physician, not something the name alone settles.
Nobody explains the naming, so let us start there
If you have looked at these tablets on a marketplace, you have probably seen five or six products whose names differ by one Sanskrit word and whose descriptions differ hardly at all. We checked the listings that rank for them — Amazon, Flipkart, 1mg, IndiaMART — on 20 August 2026. Not one explains why the products share a naming scheme. That is a strange gap, because the naming is the most informative thing about them.
Here is the scheme. Classical Ayurveda describes seven dhatus, the structural tissues of the body, forming in a fixed sequence: Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Meda, Asthi, Majja, Shukra. Rasa is the plasma-nutrient fluid and comes first; each dhatu after it is described as forming from the one before. Alongside the central digestive fire, jatharagni, the texts describe a fire specific to each tissue — dhatvagni — governing that tissue's own formation and turnover. Pachaka means that which digests. Put the two together and the naming is self-explanatory: a Dhatu Pachak preparation is named for the dhatu whose agni it is traditionally associated with.
The series, dhatu by dhatu
| Dhatu | Position in the sequence | Preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Rasa — plasma, nutrient fluid | First | Ras Pachak Tablets |
| Rakta — blood | Second | Rakta Pachak Tablets |
| Mamsa — muscle | Third | Mansh Pachak Tablets |
| Meda — adipose tissue | Fourth | Shauthlya (Med) Pachak Tablets |
| Asthi and Majja — bone and marrow | Fifth and sixth | Asthi Majja Pachak |
| Shukra — reproductive tissue | Seventh | No Pachak preparation in this range |
Six of the seven are covered. Shukra is not, which is worth knowing if you have been told the series is complete.
What the composition actually looks like
The naming scheme is shared. The formulas are not, and this is where marketplace listings tend to go quiet. Take the first in the series. Each uncoated Ras Pachak tablet declares just three dravyas, in exactly equal parts:
| Declared dravya | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Patol — Trichosanthes dioica | 165 mg |
| Indrajav — Holarrhena antidysenterica (seed) | 165 mg |
| Katuki — Picrorhiza kurroa | 165 mg |
| Total declared actives | 495 mg |
| Excipients | Q.S. |
Three dravyas, no lead herb, no filler. All three belong to the Tikta group — the bitter taste, described in classical literature as the principal Deepana-Pachana category, the tastes that kindle agni and assist pachana. Patol and Katuki are a classical pair: the Patolakaturohinyadi group of formulations takes its name from exactly those two. Indrajav is the seed of the plant whose bark is Kutaja, and classical practice regards seed and bark as distinct dravyas with distinct actions.
We publish these figures because they are printed on the jar. Where a pack prints Q.S., we print Q.S. Where a pack calls itself a classical product but prints no text reference — which is the case across this series — we say so on the listing instead of supplying a citation of our own invention.
One thing on the packs we do not repeat
Several jars in this range carry manufacturer artwork with phrases like a potency guarantee, or “100% natural”. Indian advertising law does not permit an Ayurvedic listing to reproduce that kind of wording, so we do not, and we would not want to. What goes on our pages instead is the declared composition, the quantities, the licence number and the classical reasoning. That is a better basis for a decision than a superlative.
Please read this part. Every pack in the Dhatu Pachak series prints an instruction to be taken under medical supervision, and directs you to consult your healthcare practitioner before taking. Katuki and Indrajav in particular are potent bitter dravyas — these are not casual daily tablets. Not for use in pregnancy or lactation without physician advice. For children, the dose is decided by a qualified Ayurvedic physician. Keep out of sight and reach of children. If you are already taking another Tikta preparation, or any other medication, discuss it before starting. Results may vary from person to person.
How to use this series sensibly
Read the dhatu name as information about the classical rationale, not as a diagnosis. It tells you where a preparation sits in the theory. It does not tell you which one suits your constitution, your present state, or what else you already take — and it certainly does not replace an examination. If you are not already working with a Vaidya, book a consultation before you choose from the series rather than after.
Frequently asked questions
What does “Dhatu Pachak” mean?
Dhatu means a body tissue; pachaka means that which digests. Classical Ayurveda holds that each of the seven dhatus has its own agni, called dhatvagni, and that the dhatus form one after another in a fixed order. A Dhatu Pachak preparation is named for the dhatu whose agni it is associated with.
What are the seven dhatus, in order?
Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Meda, Asthi, Majja and Shukra. Rasa is first; each subsequent dhatu is described as forming from the one before it. This sequence is why the tablets are numbered the way they are and why Ras Pachak sits at the head of the series.
Which products are in the series at Riddhish Herbals?
Ras Pachak (Rasa), Rakta Pachak (Rakta), Mansh Pachak (Mamsa), Shauthlya or Med Pachak (Meda) and Asthi Majja Pachak (Asthi and Majja). Each is stocked as a 500 g bulk jar and as a 60-tablet pack.
Is Dhatu Pachak a classical formulation or a proprietary one?
The dhatvagni framework is classical. The specific tablet formulas are proprietary Ayurvedic medicines of Panchamrut Herbals, made under Mfg. Lic. No. GA-1762. Riddhish Herbals stocks them; we do not make them. The packs describe themselves as Ayurvedic classical products but do not print a text reference, and we say so on each listing rather than inventing one.
Can I choose one myself from the name alone?
No, and this is the honest answer rather than the convenient one. The name tells you which dhatu the preparation is associated with in classical theory. It does not tell you which one suits your prakriti, your current state or anything else you are taking. Every pack in the series prints a physician-supervision instruction. Take that seriously.
Do the formulas overlap?
They share the bitter Deepana-Pachana group but the compositions differ. Ras Pachak, for instance, declares only three dravyas — Patol, Indrajav and Katuki, at 165 mg each. Read the composition table on each listing; we print the label figures, including where the label prints Q.S.
Where can I see the actual composition?
On each product page, as a table, transcribed from the physical jar. Riddhish Herbals publishes label figures rather than summaries, and flags any place where the pack itself is silent or misprinted.
Is Ras Pachak the same thing as Rasa Pachak Vati sold by other brands?
The name is shared; the formula is not. Several manufacturers sell a Rasa Pachak Vati and the ingredient lists differ between them. Compare the composition table, not the name.
