Basiclean Herb's Mud Face Wash Powder is a foam-free, water-activated herbal mud cleanser powder — a different kind of face wash entirely. Where ordinary face washes rely on synthetic surfactants (SLS, SLES) to produce foam, this powder works through the natural physical science of clay: adsorption, absorption, and gentle mineral contact with skin. No foam needed. No chemical emulsification. Just mud, herbs, and water — the way skin has been cleansed for generations.
Inspired by naturopathy mud therapy (Mrittika Chikitsa), which is a formal clinical subject in BNYS institutions under the AYUSH system of the Government of India, and supported by published cosmetic clay science, this product sits at the meeting point of India's oldest cleansing traditions and modern understanding of how clay minerals interact with skin.
Traditional Ayurvedic and Naturopathy Importance
Mud therapy — called Mrittika Chikitsa in traditional naturopathy — is one of the Panchamahabhuta Chikitsa, the five elemental therapies based on the earth element (Prithvi). In naturopathy clinical practice, mud packs are applied to the face for their cooling, absorbing, and refreshing properties. Classical Ayurvedic texts including the Ashtanga Hridayam and Charaka Samhita reference Mrittika (earth paste) as a traditional skin application valued for cleansing and cooling qualities.
Gujarat's own tradition — the use of Black Mitti as a face and hair cleanser paste — is the direct regional cultural predecessor of this product. Women across Gujarat and Rajasthan have prepared clay paste, applied it, and rinsed it off for generations. This product gives that tradition a standardised, cosmetic-grade, neem-purified, herbal form.
Key Features
- Foam-Free, Surfactant-Free Cleansing: No SLS, SLES, or synthetic foaming agents. Cleanses through clay's natural physical adsorption mechanism — gentle on the skin's moisture barrier.
- Water-Activated Powder Format: Dry powder stays shelf-stable without a preservative system. Activates fresh at the point of use — mix with water, rose water, or aloe vera as preferred.
- 2-in-1 — Face Wash and Face Pack: Use a small amount with a few drops of water for a quick daily cleanse, or apply a thicker paste for a 5–10 minute face pack — same product, two uses.
- Neem-Decoction Purified Mud Base: The mud base is processed with hot neem decoction — consistent with Ayurvedic Shodhana (purification) methodology — reducing surface microbial load before formulation.
- No Paraben, No Artificial Fragrance, No Artificial Colour: Free from the synthetic additives most commonly associated with skin sensitivity reactions in regular face wash users.
- Naturopathy and Cosmetic Clay Science Backed: Clay mineral adsorption and oil-absorption properties are documented in published cosmetic science research. Naturopathy use is AYUSH-recognised.
- Vegan and Cruelty-Free: No animal-derived ingredients, no animal testing.

How to Use
Face Wash Mode (Daily): Take half a teaspoon of Mud Face Wash Powder in your palm. Add 4–6 drops of water or rose water. Work into a smooth paste. Apply on a damp face with gentle circular motion. Leave 30–60 seconds. Rinse with plain water.
Face Pack Mode (2–3 times per week): Take one teaspoon of powder. Add rose water or plain water to form a thick, even paste. Apply on a clean face. Leave 5–10 minutes until semi-dry. Rinse off with plain water before the paste cracks. Do not over-dry.
Anupan (Customisation): Rose water — for a cooling, soothing effect. Aloe vera gel — for sensitive or reactive skin. Raw milk — for dry skin types. These customisations follow traditional Indian skincare practice.
Who Can Use It
Suitable for adults with oily, combination, and normal skin types as a regular daily face wash. Well-suited for those who experience irritation or dryness from surfactant-based face washes, individuals following a natural or Ayurvedic skincare routine, men seeking effective oil and sweat cleansing, and vegan or cruelty-free skincare users. Patch test recommended for first-time use. Those with very dry skin may prefer to start with alternate-day use.
Safety Information
For external use only. Conduct a patch test on the inner forearm 24 hours before first facial use. Avoid contact with eyes — if contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water. Discontinue use if redness, itching, or irritation occurs. Do not inhale dry powder. Keep out of reach of children. Do not introduce water or damp utensils into the powder container. Results may vary from person to person. Consult your physician before use if pregnant, lactating, or managing any skin condition. This is a cosmetic face cleanser — not a medicine.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Keep the lid tightly closed after every use. Powder format is shelf-stable when kept dry — moisture is its only enemy.
