About Vatchintamani Rasa (Brihat)
Vatchintamani Rasa (Brihat) is the larger classical form of this celebrated Vata Rasaushadhi, of the Suvarna-Mukta Yukta grade, catalogued at Bharat Bhaishajya Ratnakara 6985. It is built on Rasasindura with Suvarna (gold), Raupya (silver), Abhrak (mica), Loha (iron), Praval (coral) and Mukta (pearl) Bhasma, levigated with Kumari (Aloe) juice.

The Rasashastra behind it
These are Rasaushadhi — medicines of Rasashastra, the classical Ayurvedic pharmacy of processed metals and minerals. Each metal passes through Shodhana (purification) and Marana (incineration into a Bhasma); mercurial preparations pass additionally through Kajjali and Kupipakwa. What the Samskara yields is a new, nanocrystalline substance, not the raw metal that entered the furnace. Peer-reviewed X-ray diffraction of Vasant Kusumakar Rasa — a different classical preparation, which we also stock — identified cinnabar, cassiterite, massicot and magnetite as the phases its Samskara produces, and two of those do not bear on this medicine at all: cassiterite and massicot arise from that formula's Vanga and Naga Bhasma, neither of which is present in Vatchintamani Rasa. The two findings that do bear on this formula are cinnabar — the α-mercuric sulphide phase of its own Rasasindur, exactly the dravya the study credits it to — and magnetite, the iron-oxide phase of its own Loha Bhasma.

X-ray diffraction of Vasant Kusumakar Rasa — a different classical preparation, which we also stock — identified cinnabar, cassiterite, massicot and magnetite as the phases produced by the Samskara, and two of those do not bear on this medicine at all: cassiterite and massicot arise from that formula's Vanga and Naga Bhasma, neither of which is present in Vatchintamani Rasa. What bears on this formula is cinnabar, the α-mercuric sulphide the study attributes to Rasa Sindura — the very dravya this pack declares at 35 mg — together with magnetite from its own Loha Bhasma. How to Use
As printed on the pack: 1 to 2 tablets twice a day with Milk, Honey or Adrak (ginger) Rasa (Anupana), or as advised by the physician. Your Vaidya sets the exact dose, Anupana and duration.
