Colicarex Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic liquid from Riddhish Herbals, supplied as a 30 ml dropper for infants and young children. Each 5 ml is prepared from extracts of Dadima (Punica granatum), Indrayava (Holarrhena antidysenterica), Vidanga (Embelia ribes), Vacha (Acorus calamus), Hingu (Ferula narthex), Ela (cardamom) and classical rock salts — dravyas traditionally valued in Ayurveda as deepana (digestive) and vatanulomana (wind-relieving). It is intended for use as part of paediatric digestive care, under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic physician.

About Colicarex Syrup

A baby's digestive system is still finding its rhythm in the first months of life. Wind, a tight little tummy and restless evenings are part of that early picture. Colicarex Syrup draws on a long Ayurvedic tradition of gentle, aromatic digestives — the same family of herbs that classical paediatric texts describe for udarashoola (griping abdominal discomfort) and sluggish agni in children. The orange-flavoured base is designed to make a few drops easy to give.

This is a multi-herb proprietary formulation rather than a single raw herb. Its character comes from the balance between warming carminatives such as Hingu and Vacha, the digestive bitterness of Vidanga and Indrayava, and the cooling, palatable touch of Dadima and Ela.

Traditional Ayurvedic Importance

Hingu (asafoetida) is among the most cited carminatives in Ayurveda. Classical works such as Bhavaprakasha Nighantu describe it as deepana, pachana, vatanulomana and shoolaghna — qualities traditionally linked to easing wind and abdominal griping.

Vacha (Acorus calamus) holds a special place in Kaumarabhritya (Ayurvedic paediatrics). The Kashyapa Samhita, the classical authority on child care, references Vacha among dravyas used in very small, purified (shodhita) quantities for digestion and development in children.

Vidanga (Embelia ribes) is described in classical literature as krimighna and deepana, traditionally used where digestion is weak, and gas accumulates. Indrayava / Kutaja (Holarrhena antidysenterica) is the classical grahi and deepana dravya, described in Sushruta Samhita and Charaka Samhita in the context of grahani and bowel balance.

Dadima (Punica granatum) is valued as deepana, pachana, hridya and ruchya — supportive of appetite and palatability — while Ela (cardamom) is a classical hrullasanigrahana and aromatic digestive. The two rock salts, Sauvarchala and Saindhava, are traditional deepana adjuncts.

Research and Scientific References

Several Colicarex dravyas have been the subject of published pharmacological review. Indrayava / Kutaja (Holarrhena antidysenterica) has been examined for its traditionally recognised digestive and anti-diarrhoeal properties in a peer-reviewed therapeutic review. Vidanga (Embelia ribes) has likewise been reviewed for its long traditional use as a carminative and digestive, including in the context of flatulence and colic-type discomfort.

Research describes the individual herbs, not this finished product, and is shared for educational context only. It is not a claim to treat, cure or prevent any condition. Results may vary from person to person. Consult your Ayurvedic physician or paediatrician before use.

How to Use & Anupan

As printed on the pack, and always as directed by your physician:

  • 0 to 12 months: 2 drops, two times a day.
  • Above 12 months: 4 drops, two times a day.
  • Or as directed by the physician.

Traditional anupan: a few drops may be given in a little lukewarm water. Shake well before use.

Who Can Use It

Intended for infants and young children under the supervision of a qualified Ayurvedic physician or paediatrician. It is not for adults' use and not a substitute for medical evaluation. If a baby's crying is severe, persistent, or comes with fever, vomiting, blood in stool, poor feeding or lethargy, stop and seek a doctor promptly — these can signal something that needs medical care.

Safety Information

Use strictly under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic physician or paediatrician. Do not exceed the dose printed on the pack. Keep out of reach of children. Protect from direct sunlight. Discontinue and consult a doctor if any unusual reaction occurs. Results may vary from person to person. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Replace the cap tightly after use. Keep out of reach of children.

Yes. It is manufactured by our contract-manufacturing partner in a GMP-certified facility under Manufacturing Licence GA/1762, and supplied by Riddhish Herbals with a proper bill.

Can I give this to my baby without consulting a doctor?

No. Because it is intended for infants and young children, it should only be given on the dose and advice of a qualified Ayurvedic physician or paediatrician.

What is Hingu (asafoetida) and why is it in a baby formula?

Hingu is one of Ayurveda's most traditional carminatives, classically described as vatanulomana and shoolaghna — long used in small quantities to ease wind and griping discomfort.

What are the other names for the herbs inside?

Dadam = Dadima (pomegranate); Indrajav = Indrayava / Kutaja; Vavding = Vidanga; Vacha = sweet flag; Elaychi = Ela (cardamom); Sanchal = black salt; Sindhav = rock salt; Nimbu = citron.

How is this different from a standard gripe water?

Colicarex is a multi-herb Ayurvedic formulation with a label-verified, classically grounded composition, rather than a single-flavour preparation. Riddhish Herbals also provides doctor-guided selection and a genuine product with a bill.

Is it available at Riddhish Herbals?

Yes — Riddhish Herbals stocks it online with pan-India delivery, and across our Gujarat retail stores.

How should I store it?

In a cool, dry place away from sunlight, tightly capped, out of reach of children.

What is the recommended anupan?

A few drops in a little lukewarm water, as directed by your physician.

Have these herbs been studied scientifically?

Yes — herbs such as Kutaja and Vidanga have peer-reviewed pharmacological reviews describing their traditional digestive and carminative use. This research concerns the individual herbs, not the finished product, and makes no treatment claim.
