About Maha Rasnadi Kwath (Dry)

Maha Rasnadi Kwath is a classical Ayurvedic decoction (kashayam) built around Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata), the herb whose name opens the formula — "the great Rasna and others." Riddhish Herbals offers it as a dry kwath: a coarse herbal blend (yavakuta) you boil into a fresh decoction at home. This pack follows the Ayurvedic Formulary of India (AFI), Part I — printed on the label as Ref: AFI P1 — under the formulation Rasnadi Kvatha Churna (Maha). The Maharasnadi tradition is described in the classical compendium Sahasrayogam.

The formula is centred on the Vata-balancing and musculoskeletal tradition of Ayurveda. It is prepared fresh and taken under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic physician.

Traditional Ayurvedic Importance

Classical authors place Maha Rasnadi Kwath within Vatavyadhi — the Ayurvedic grouping of Vata-related disorders — and Amavata, the traditional concept of joint discomfort linked to ama (undigested residue) and aggravated Vata. In this framework it is classically valued for supporting the joints, muscles and the smooth downward movement of apana vayu.

Rasna is the principal drug, classically regarded as Vata- and Kapha-pacifying. AFI Part I keeps it at the centre of the blend (50 parts) and surrounds it with twenty-five supporting herbs — warming, strengthening and deepana (digestive-kindling) drugs — so the decoction works on both Vata and ama as the classical texts intended.

Research and Scientific References

The lead herb Rasna has been reviewed in the peer-reviewed literature. A review of Pluchea lanceolata documented its triterpenoids, sterols and flavonoids and surveyed its traditionally recognised anti-inflammatory and analgesic character within the Rasayana tradition. — (Srivastava & Shanker, 2012 — Fitoterapia; PMID 22877846)

Findings are observed under research conditions and do not constitute medical claims. Individual results may vary. Use under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic physician.

How to Use

As directed by your Ayurvedic physician. Traditionally, a measured portion of the dry kwath (commonly around 5–10 g of the coarse powder) is boiled in water and reduced to prepare a fresh decoction, then strained and taken — usually warm, before food. Your physician may advise specific prakshepa additions and anupana.

Who Can Use It

Generally suited to adults seeking traditional Vata-balancing support for joints and mobility, under guidance. Not recommended during pregnancy. Consult a qualified Ayurvedic physician if lactating, on any medication, or managing a health condition. Keep out of reach of children.

Safety Information

Use strictly under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic physician. Avoid during pregnancy unless advised. Keep out of reach of children. Results may vary from person to person.
