About Til Tail and Its Traditional Ayurvedic Importance
Til Tail is sesame oil, known in Sanskrit as Tila Taila. In Ayurveda the word Taila, the general word for oil, itself comes from Tila, the sesame seed, and sesame oil is the oil the classical texts place first. The Charaka Samhita (Sutrasthana, chapter 13, on Sneha) describes Tila Taila as the best of all oils for strength and for Snehana (oleation). - Abhyanga (body massage): warm a small quantity by standing the bottle in warm water, then massage it over the body with long strokes along the limbs and circular strokes around the joints. Leave it on for a while, then bathe with warm water.
