Til Tail (White) is pure white-sesame oil (Sesamum indicum) — the foremost oil of classical Ayurveda for Abhyanga, the daily oil-massage ritual. A 100% single-ingredient classical preparation referenced in Aaryabhishak, this Panchamrut Herbals Til Tail is traditionally valued for skin and scalp nourishment, joint comfort and balancing Vata dosha. 100 ml.

About Til Tail White (Sesame Oil)

Sesame oil is the cornerstone of Ayurvedic external care. Known as Tila Taila in Sanskrit and til ka tel across India, it has nourished Indian bodies and hair for generations and serves as the working base of countless classical formulations.

This is the white-sesame (Shweta Tila) variety — a light, clean oil prized for everyday Abhyanga and as a pure base oil. It is a single-ingredient product: 100% Til Tail (Sesamum indicum), nothing else. Warming (Ushna) and unctuous (Snigdha) by nature, it is the classical answer to dry, cold, Vata-type conditions. Manufactured by Panchamrut Herbals and retailed by Riddhish Herbals.

Traditional Ayurvedic Importance

Ayurveda is unusually direct about sesame oil. The Ashtanga Hridaya (Sutrasthana, Annapana Vidhi) states plainly: "tatra taileshu madhye mukhyam tilodbhavam" — among all oils, the one born of sesame is foremost.

The Charaka Samhita (Sutrasthana, Matrashitiya) describes Abhyanga as a core practice of Dinacharya — valued for supporting the skin, easing the effects of ageing, and grounding Vata. Sesame oil is the oil traditionally named for this purpose, and the standard base for medicated Taila preparations. Classical texts recognise both white (Shweta) and black (Krishna) sesame; the white variety is the lighter, everyday choice. This product carries the pack reference Aaryabhishak (Aarya Bhisak), a respected classical compendium.

Research & Scientific References

A 2017 triple-blind randomised controlled trial published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice observed that light-pressure massage using topical sesame oil was associated with reductions in self-reported pain severity in adults with limb injuries, compared with a placebo oil, under study conditions. (Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice, 2017; Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials.)

The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel, after reviewing animal and human data, assessed Sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil as safe for cosmetic use as a skin-conditioning agent, reporting it to be neither an irritant nor a sensitiser at cosmetic-use levels. (Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel, 2011; PMID 21772026.)

How to Use & Anupan

For Abhyanga (body massage)

Warm a small quantity by standing the bottle in warm water. Apply over the body — long strokes along the limbs, gentle circular motions over the joints. Rest 15–20 minutes, then bathe with warm water. Daily or 3–4 times a week.

For hair, scalp and classical uses

Massage a small amount into the scalp and hair; leave 30–60 minutes or overnight before washing. Sesame oil is also the classical base for Shiro Abhyanga, Nasya and Karnapurana — these should be done only under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic physician.

The pack advises use under medical supervision. For any internal or Panchakarma use, follow physician guidance.

Who Can Use It

Suitable for adults following an Ayurvedic lifestyle, those who practise daily self-massage, and anyone seeking a pure single-ingredient oil for body and hair care. Especially appreciated in winter and by those with dry skin or a Vata constitution. If you are pregnant, lactating, managing a health condition, or applying it to a child, consult your physician first.

Safety Information

Generally well tolerated for external use as directed. Avoid if you have a known sesame allergy, and discontinue if any irritation appears. Keep out of reach of children. Results may vary from person to person.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Seal the cap tightly after each use.
