About Ashwagandha Churna

Ashwagandha Churna is a fine powder prepared from the roots of Withania somnifera, one of the most respected single herbs in Ayurveda. Riddhish Herbals makes this churna from carefully selected, shade-dried roots, milled to a smooth texture and left exactly as nature intended — no added sugar, colour, flavour or preservative. The herb is also known as Asgandh and, in English sources, as Indian Ginseng or Winter Cherry.

Traditional Ayurvedic Importance

Classical Ayurveda places Ashwagandha among the Rasayana dravyas — herbs traditionally associated with strength, stability and steady rejuvenation over time. It is described in the Bhavaprakasha Nighantu and referenced across the Charaka Samhita within the Rasayana context. Practitioners have long valued it for building Ojas, the body's vital essence, and for grounding an overworked mind. Its name comes from "ashwa" (horse), pointing to the strength and vigour the tradition links to it.

Research and Scientific References

Standardised Ashwagandha root extracts have been examined in randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials in adults, with researchers reporting changes in perceived stress scores over roughly 6–8 weeks (Chandrasekhar et al., 2012 — Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine). Further trials have explored its relationship with self-reported sleep quality (Deshpande et al., 2020 — Sleep Medicine), and a 2023 review summarised current clinical research and its general safety profile within studied doses (Mikulska et al., 2023 — Nutrients). Results were observed under specific study conditions and may differ from household churna preparations; individual results may vary.

How to Use

For general adult use, mix ¼–½ teaspoon (about 1–2 g) of the churna with lukewarm milk, water, ghee or honey, once or twice daily after meals — or as directed by your Ayurvedic physician. Stir well and take fresh.

Safety Information

Intended for adults. Pregnant or lactating women, children, the elderly, and anyone on regular medication or managing a health condition should consult a qualified physician before use. Do not exceed the advised quantity. Keep out of reach of children. Discontinue and seek advice if any discomfort occurs.
