About Sunth Powder (Dry Ginger)
Sunth is the dried, ground rhizome of ginger — Zingiber officinale — and one of the most familiar herbs in any Indian kitchen or Ayurvedic pharmacy. Fresh ginger is called Ardraka; once it is cleaned, sun-dried and milled, it becomes Sunth, also written Soonth, Saunth or Sonth, and known in Sanskrit as Sunthi. Riddhish Herbals offers it as a single-herb powder: 100% dried ginger, nothing added. Each pack holds 50g of finely ground rhizome.
Traditional Ayurvedic Importance
Few herbs carry the standing that Sunthi does in classical literature. The Bhavaprakasha Nighantu (Haritakyadi Varga) describes its pungent taste, hot potency and sweet post-digestive effect, alongside its Deepana and Pachana qualities — the kindling of digestive fire and support of comfortable digestion. Ayurvedic tradition holds it in such regard that it is called "Mahaushadha," the great medicine. Classical formulations such as Shunthi Ghrita and several Pachana decoctions place dried ginger at their centre. As traditionally described in Ayurvedic texts, Sunthi is valued for balancing Kapha and Vata and for supporting seasonal wellbeing when taken as part of a daily routine.

Research and Scientific References
Dried ginger has been the subject of published clinical research exploring its traditionally recognised digestive qualities. A systematic review of clinical trials reported that ginger in divided daily amounts was associated with relief of nausea and general digestive comfort in adult subjects under study conditions (Nikkhah Bodagh et al., 2019 — Food Science & Nutrition, Wiley; PMCID PMC6341159). An earlier systematic review of randomised controlled trials examined ginger in the context of nausea and vomiting (Ernst & Pittler, 2000 — British Journal of Anaesthesia; PMID 10793599). Results were observed under study conditions and individual results may vary; please consult your Ayurvedic physician before use.
How to Use
As directed by your Ayurvedic physician. Traditionally, ¼ to ½ teaspoon (roughly 1–3g) of Sunth Powder is taken once or twice daily, stirred into warm water, herbal tea or milk. A common anupan (vehicle) is warm water, or a little honey for a warming morning drink. It is also used as a culinary spice in teas, soups and decoctions.
Safety Information
For best results, use in moderation as part of a balanced routine. Consult a qualified Ayurvedic physician before use if you are pregnant, lactating, taking any medication (especially blood-thinning medicines), or managing any health condition. Keep out of reach of children. Results may vary from person to person.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Reseal the pack after each use and keep in an airtight container to preserve aroma and potency.
